2012 Mid-Winter Conference

    

The annual Department Mid-Winter Conference will be held February 17-18, 2012, at the North Raleigh Hilton, 3415 Wake Forest Rd, Raleigh, NC.  1-800-445-8667 is the number for reservations, or you can call the hotel direct at 1-919-872-2323. You must specify you are with The American Legion. Limited smoking rooms are available.  You can also book online by accessing our reservation group link here.   Cutoff date for reservations at this rate is February 2, 2012. The room rate will be $89 per night plus tax. 

The holidays will be over and everyone should be ready to get away for a very informative and enjoyable conference.  Remember:

           Rehabilitation Committee will be selecting a Service Officer of the Year,

           Public Relations Committee will select the News Media Award

           Boy Scout Committee will be selecting Scout Leaders and Units of the Year, and Adult Scouter National Training Scholarship

           JROTC Committee will select the JROTC and NCO Awards.

VA Announces Changes to Emergency Care Payment Policy

WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs announced today a change in regulations regarding payments for emergency care provided to eligible Veterans in non-VA facilities.

National Emergency Fund

Since the early 1920’s, The American Legion has been actively involved in meeting the needs of both the community and individual Legion family members in the wake of disaster.  The American Legion National Emergency Fund was born out of natural disasters to compassionately heal the wounds of catastrophe and help save their homes.  A major disaster could happen to any Legionnaire in any town at anytime and make them homeless.  The National Emergency Fund has kept posts from closing and enabled Legion family members to begin to rebuild their homes and their lives.  More Information Here...
 

 

 

The American Legion was founded in 1919 in Paris, France, at the close of World War I. The organization now includes veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon/Grenada periods, Operation Just Cause in Panama, Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Global War On Terror.
